Therese van Ede, of Table View, has written a self-published book, Stardust Stories – Overcoming Adversity.
Ms van Ede, 57, says she started writing the autobiography, which was released at the beginning of the month, two years ago with the aim of helping others who are going through trauma “to claim back their lives and stand up for themselves”.
“The details I share are from my own life, growing up in an environment of recurring abuse in many aspects during my childhood and adolescence. These experiences affected – and to some extent still affect – my relationships throughout adulthood. The lessons I have learned stay with me, and the strength, courage, and survival strategies I write about remain after the worst adversities imaginable have come and gone,” she says.
She adds: “This book is not only my story but the story of millions of men, women, and children worldwide. And although my stories are unique to me – millions of people can relate.”
