Durban — The eThekwini Municipality has stated that it is accelerating efforts to restore water supply to areas supplied through the South Coast Augmentation (SCA) Booster Pump Station.
This is the result of a fault in one of the existing pumps. The fault resulted in a reduced flow of water to areas in southern eThekwini supplied by the SCA, including Toti Water Treatment Works pumping and gravity systems.
“The SCA has been shut down from this morning (Thursday) for the installation of a new pump. This work is expected to be completed in the afternoon. Thereafter, (the) pumping of water will resume; however, the restoration of (the) full water supply may take about three days depending on consumption demand,” the municipality said in a Facebook post.
It also encouraged the public to use water sparingly.
