New one-act comedy at Milnerton Playhouse

Milnerton Players will present a new one-act comedy Aunt Zelda's Painting, directed by Judith Herbig, from Friday July 21 to Saturday August 5 at Milnerton Playhouse in Pienaar Road.

Written by Emily McClain, Aunt Zelda’s Painting tells the story of Olive (Tania Lemme) who finds herself saddled with more than she bargained for when she is named executor of her Aunt Zelda's estate. To deal with the clean-out of her aunt's cluttered home, she enlists the help of her ne'er-do-well brother Max (Chad Emslie), who brings along his less-than-helpful girlfriend Diana (Laura Singh), who hires a somewhat-shady pawn shop owner Anthea (Beryl Eichenberger), who brings her shady associate Zeke (Chris Doran). But Aunt Zelda's house proves to be full of more than just doilies and faux antique furniture. When their cleanout uncovers a priceless piece of art, their true natures are revealed.

And somewhere, in all the clutter, lurks a mean, hungry and scary cat.

Tickets cost R80 each and include a free alcoholic or a soft drink. There is also a dinner and show package with Beach Blanc, Milnerton Lighthouse, Woodbridge Island, for R160 a person (drinks excluded).

Shows are at 8pm on Friday and Saturday nights; with 2.30pm matinees on Saturdays. Visit www.milnertonplayer.co.za/bookings/ to book.
