Cape Town Opera (CTO) and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) will present the Duet Gala Concert, conducted by Polish-German conductor Adam Szmidt and directed by Christine Crouse, on Saturday June 11 at the Artscape Opera House, at 6pm.
The line-up features leading soloists such as Nobulumko Mngxekeza, Megan Kahts, Nonhlanhla Yende, Lukhanyo Moyake and William Berger, as well as rising star Khayakazi Madlala. They will be joined by Cape Town Opera soloists, Cape Town Opera’s Young Artists, the Cape Town Opera Chorus and the Tygerberg Children’s Choir.
The programme consists of beloved arias and orchestral pieces from Bizet, Charpentier, Mozart, Verdi, and Wagner, the Polonaise from Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) as well as Song to the Moon from Rusalka (Dvořák).
The concert will raise awareness and funds for the Duet Endowment Trust, an endowment set up by Wendy Ackerman to ensure ongoing support for Cape Town Opera and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tickets cost from R180 to R620 a person through Computicket.
