Beats to look forward to
- South African music fans are in for a treat as DJ Black Coffee has officially announced his 2025 Cape Town concert. Set to run from Friday February 28 to Sunday March 2, this multi-day event promises to be one of the biggest highlights of the year, with the main performance happening on March 1. Black Coffee’s 2025 Cape Town concert will take place at The Ostrich, a unique venue on the West Coast.
- Long-running local music festival Up the Creek takes place in Swellendam from Thursday to Sunday February 6 to 9. Only 2 500 tickets will be available, and 50 South African bands will perform across four stages.
- Big Concerts announced the historic debut of Green Day in South Africa, headlining Calabash South Africa 2025 alongside punk rock legends The Offspring and local favourites Fokofpolisiekar. The concert takes place at the DHL Stadium on Thursday January 23.

Sunset Tango on the Promenade is a free social Argentine tango dancing experience and all is welcome to come dance or watch. DJ Sylvia Westcott plays your favourite tunes, exploring the Argentine Tango, Tango Waltz and Milonga styles. Sunset Tango takes place on Sundays at the Sea Point Pavilion Forecourt, next to the swimming pool, Beach Road, Sea Point, starting from 5.30pm until 8pm.

- The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, the oldest comedy gig in South Africa, brings together the best local comedians and some awesome international acts for a night of pure fun. It is held at the The Baxter every winter and this year you an expect side-splitting performances from fan-favorites like Dalin Oliver and Alan Committie, plus international stars such as Sweden’s Charlie Caper and Italy’s Baccala Compagnia. Local legends like Dr. Riaad Moosa, Emo and Loukmaan Adams, and The Big Boys are also set to hit the stage.
- Craig Jackson will star in the 2025 edition of the popular Defending the Caveman show at Artscape from Monday March 17. The one-man comedy show has become a global sensation. Originally created by American comedian Rob Becker, it draws on personal observations and comedic takes on gender dynamics, offering a mix of laughter and introspection that resonates with audiences of all ages.
If you have a wedding planned this year…
The FAB Bridal Expo will take place on Saturday and Sunday March 1 and 2 at the D’Aria Wine Estate in Durbanville. The event celebrates 25 years in the bridal industry in 2025. This year’s event will also feature matric farewell items, with experienced and creative experts in their different fields available over the two-day period to answer questions and also assist visitors with queries.

- The Cape Town 10s is one of the fastest growing events in Cape Town and also one of the biggest social sports festivals. Taking place at the DHL Stadium, fans can expect thrilling tries, fierce tackles, and an unforgettable atmosphere as The Stormers will have a busy schedule in the upcoming season. With 22 weeks of action in the URC and the Investec Champions Cup between September and May, the DHL Stadium is sure to rock Green Point. They will play a total of 11 home games in front of the Cape Town crowd.
- Newlands Cricket Ground will end the Inbound Tour of Pakistan with the traditional New Year’s Test from Friday to Tuesday January 3 to 7. Newlands Cricket Ground will also be abuzz in January and February for the third season of the Betway SA20. From Thursday January 9 to Saturday February 8, fans will be treated to exhilarating T20 cricket action at six national cricket venues over four weeks. Newlands will host five MiCapeTown matches for the upcoming season welcoming the likes of Paarl Royals, Durban Super Giants and strong favourites, Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

- Andrea Bocelli will perform at the DHL Stadium, on Wednesday April 16, at the largest outdoor classical concert ever to be staged in Cape Town.
