Khayelitsha Afro soul artist Linomtha promises “fire” when she takes to the stage at City Hall this Saturday, April 4, for her show, Telling stories with Linomtha, at 4pm.
Linomtha will be telling stories and performing tracks from her debut album, Ndiyala. She will also give a special preview of new music from her upcoming EP, Nontongane.
She will be accompanied by a friend and comedian, Phumlani Vokovi, as well as traditional music artist and cultural historian, Dizu Plaatjies.
Speaking to Vukani, Linomtha said: “I am truly honoured and excited to take a lead in storytelling. The show will be lit. I promise fire. It is going to be a great evening filled with fun entertainment, bonding and socialising. This will be done by a woman empowering other women and young people.”
Linomtha is looking forward to seeing people from different cultures and backgrounds in the audience because the show is for everyone. “I am going to set that stage on fire. I have been up and down but I also have been practising for weeks. Let me tell you, I am still working hard at my work even now. I want to give my audience the best performance. I just can’t wait to be on that stage only for them,” said the excited artist.
As she is looking forward to the day, she says nothing will stop her from giving a performance of the decade..
“I feel privileged to contribute my gift of art to the province. What I will be doing is my calling. I know a lot of people know Linomtha the singer. I thank God for His gift of art. What fulfils me in life the most is touching people’s lives, and being a part of life’s journey through art forms, be it music or poetry.”
