The South African National ZakahFund (SANZAF) has bagged a prestigious award for its work in alleviating
poverty.
Sanzaf won the capacity-building category of the Global Good Governance Awards, or 3G Awards, which were scheduled to take place in Indonesia but were instead live-streamed on Monday June 8 because of the Covid-19 crisis.
The awards promote good governance and commitment to social welfare in three areas: government and politics, the corporate sector, and the social and philanthropic sector.
Since their inception, more than 150 awards have been presented to people and institutions from around the world.

“Our focus is on skills development, education and capacity building to ensure long-term sustainable solutions that would give rise to a dignified existence for those we serve,” she said.
Professor Humayon Dar, chairperson of the Global Good Governance Awards, said Sanzaf had won a very competitive category.
