6. Agave syrup: Instead of honey, many vegan liqueurs rely on agave syrup for sweetness. Derived from the agave plant, this natural sweetener integrates seamlessly into spirits, balancing strong flavours like coffee or citrus.  
7. Plant-based stabilisers and emulsifiers: Vegan alternatives use natural thickeners like xanthan gum or lecithin derived from soy or sunflower seeds to achieve the smooth consistency expected in liqueurs.

Several brands are paving the way in the vegan liqueur market. 

African Dew Vegan Marula-flavoured liqueur is a South African 100% plant-based, gluten and nut free liqueur private label product made for Checkers LiquorShop and comes in strawberry, chocolate, coffee, condensed milk and marula-flavours.

Baileys has introduced Baileys Almande, a creamy liqueur made from almond milk, almond essence, and vanilla. Meanwhile, brands like Disaronno (an Amaretto liqueur) are naturally vegan, with no animal products used in their recipes.
