Anok Yai's fans rally behind her after disappointment with British Fashion Council
On Monday, December 2, the British Fashion Council rolled out the red carpet for the stars who attended the fashion awards.
Presented by Pandora, the British Fashion Awards is a ceremony that recognises industry changemakers who influence the world with creative, responsible fashion.
The event, which took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, included several categories including Model of the Year, Designer of the Year, British Menswear Designer, British Womenswear Designer and British Accessories Designer, to name a few.
Supermodel Anok Yai was nominated for Model of the Year alongside Alva Claire, Alex Consani, Amelia Gray, Liu Wen and Mona Tougaard.
All these models dominated the runway in the past twelve months and America’s Consani won.
While Yai was happy for her, she was disappointed at the British Fashion Council, as she genuinely believed she would win.
“Alex, I love you and I’m so proud of you. British Fashion Council, thank you, but I don’t want it anymore,” she said.
This came after she was snubbed for two years and those who support her and follow fashion understand her frustration.
“I don’t blame Anok for not wanting the award any more. She should’ve won last year with ease tbh [to be honest],” said @rayyegotti.
Another X user, @hrhbitch__, said: “This is so valid she isn’t even being shady they have been playing in her FACE wtf how doesn’t she have that award????”
