In celebration of International Women’s Day on Saturday, Shaista Sophia, founder of the award-winning intimate skincare brand Skinstem, is breaking barriers and empowering women to embrace self-care and confidence.
A medical pharmacist turned entrepreneur, Sophia has transformed the beauty industry by addressing long-ignored taboos around women’s intimate health and wellness.
Sophia’s journey began when she identified a gap in skincare for sensitive areas, driven by her own experiences and a passion for women’s health.
“I realised my own skin struggles weren’t unique, and women deserve solutions that make them feel confident in their most sensitive areas,” she explains.
Combining her pharmaceutical expertise with rigorous research, Sophia developed Skinstem’s luxurious, science-backed products, including the acclaimed V-care collection.
Her mission goes beyond skincare; it’s about sparking conversations and normalising intimate care as part of holistic wellness.
“The next frontier in wellness is intimate care and sexuality – topics often avoided,” she says. “Self-care is an investment in your body and well-being. Confidence comes from the inside out.”

In just two years, Skinstem has earned multiple accolades, including “Best Intimate Care” at the 2023 Woman&Home Beauty Awards, cementing its reputation as a game-changer.
Sophia’s ability to balance her roles as a medical pharmacist and entrepreneur exemplifies the resilience and versatility of modern women leaders.
A strong advocate for collaboration over competition, Sophia encourages women to support one another.
“There’s room for all of us to succeed,” she says.
She also emphasises the importance of resilience, self-care, and staying true to one’s purpose. “You can’t pour from an empty cup,” she reminds fellow entrepreneurs.
This International Women’s Day, Shaista Sophia stands as a beacon of empowerment, proving that women can redefine norms and thrive in even the most unconventional spaces.
“When one woman steps up and breaks a barrier, she paves the way for many others,” she says.
Through her intimate skincare line, Sophia is not just selling skincare – she’s inspiring women to feel confident, cared for, and unapologetically empowered.
