Intaka wins in National Wetlands Awards

Intaka Island received a bronze Wattled Crane sculpture inrecognition of its contribution to wetland work in South Africa at the National Wetland Awards.

Century City’s wetlands nature reserve, Intaka Island, won a National Wetland Award in a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday October 28.

The National Wetland Awards are presented annually to recognise outstanding contributions and achievements in the wetland community.

The 16-hectare Intaka Island, which is home to more than 120 bird species, won in the Education and Skills Development category for “environmental education and skills development facilitated by the Intaka Island Environmental Trust for the wetlands at Century City”.

The award is given annually to those who have made a significant contribution towards wetland education and skills development in South Africa.
