Christmas traditions continued

Summer Jacobs|Published 4 years ago

Plenty of traditions had to take a backseat this year as Covid-19 reared its ugly head, but it has not stopped Martin Beyers from continuing a long-standing Christmas tradition. For the last eight years, Mr Beyers, of Rugby, has lit up his house in Nahum Street with Christmas lights and decorations, and this year was no different. Mr Beyers, 58, took over the tradition from his father Snowden “Snowy” Beyers after he died eight years ago. “I get enjoyment out of it. It’s a tradition that I would feel lost without,” said Mr Beyers. He switched on his lights last Wednesday evening while his grandchildren watched with delight.

Mr Beyers spends weeks wiring Christmas lights and fixing them to his house for passers-by and motorists to enjoy.
