A Table View non-profit, Home of Hope, which cares for abused and abandoned children, received educational toys and stationery supplies from mayor Dan Plato and Ward 113 councillor Dr Joy McCarthy, last week. From left, are children’s home manager Thea Wynne, Home of Hope founder Eleanor Brook, Dr McCarthy and Mr Plato. The organisation runs a school, Amathemba, for children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. Currently 37 children attend the school and 26 of them live at the home. The school teaches cooking classes, computer skills and sewing and now hopes to include gardening but needs funding and supplies for this, including gardening gloves, vegetable seeds and tools. Call the school’s principal Kim Fernandez at 021 556 1335 or email education@homeofhope.co.za if you want to help.
