R7m drug bust in Killarney Gardens
Police arrested two people and seized drugs worth R7 million in Killarney Gardens, last week.
A 24-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were caught with 11 bags of tik worth R7 million in Baltimore Park, Killarney Gardens, on Thursday August 26, according to police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk.
A 26-year-old man was arrested in Parklands on the same day, just after 1pm, when officers, who had been doing patrols, noticed a suspicious exchange between two men outside a complex in Tinchley Crescent, said Table View police spokeswoman Captain Andriana Chandler.
One man walked into the complex while the other was followed by police and started to run towards a unit in the complex.
Police had searched the place and found large quantities of dagga, she said.
Later that day, around 6pm, two police officers were patrolling in Table View when they noticed a vehicle without number plates, said Captain Chandler.
A 49-year-old foreign man was found selling alcohol from the boot of the car and police officers asked him for his home address and permission to search his property.
He led police to his home in Milnerton where they found items made out of ivory along with tik, dagga, boxes of alcohol and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The man was arrested and is facing charges of possession of drugs; dealing in drugs; dealing in alcohol and the possession of ivory.
