Brigadier Lindiwe Dyantyi will be moving to Mitchell’s Plain police station.
Organisations have congratulated the Table View police station commander on her promotion but said they are sad to see her go.
Colonel Lindiwe Dyantyi was promoted to the rank of brigadier on Wednesday October 5.
She was presented the new rank by the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in the Western Cape, Major General Albert Maqhashalala.
Brigadier Dyantyi will be the new station commander of the Mitchells Plain police station.
She took over the position of station commander at Table View in November 2017.
Brigadier Dyantyi is described by her colleagues as a loyal, caring, dedicated, strong and passionate person.
Table View Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, David Harris, said they are delighted that Brigadier Dyantyi has been recognised for promotion but very sad to be losing her.
“We have enjoyed a very positive working relationship during her time as station commander of SAPS Table View,” he said.
Mr Harris wished Brigadier Dyantyi every success in her new post.
Karen Davis of the Greater Table View Action Forum thanked Brigadier Dyantyi for her service while she was in Table View, and wished her all the best for the future.
Ms Davis said they are curious to know who will replace her as the station commander.
Brigadier Dyantyi said she felt excited about her promotion.
She said she has had good and bad memories during her tenure in Table View.
Brigadier Dyantyi said that the Table View CPF winning the award for the Best CPF in the Western Cape, the unity of SAPS members at the Table View police station, Table View SAPS members receiving recognition for the good work they do, as well as the great partnerships with various organisations in the precinct, are some of the memorable moments for her.
She said colleagues losing their lives due to various circumstances still haunts her to this day.
Brigadier Dyantyi said now that she has run the race and reached the end, it is sad to pass on the baton but she asked her colleagues to continue the good work.
“They must never underestimate the high quality that each and everyone achieved, and appreciate every moment that they have,” said Brigadier Dyantyi.
