A 56-year-old farmer from Melkbosstrand will appear in court today on a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly shot at a teenage boy, say police.
The 16-year-old was walking next to a farm in the town on his way to his grandparents on Monday December 19 at around 4pm when the farmer allegedly shot at him and the teen ran to his grandparents’ house, said Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler.
A case was opened and the farmer was arrested on Wednesday December 21, and his two firearms and ammunition were confiscated.
• The body of a 25-year-old man was found with stab wounds in Zwe Zwe informal settlement, in Table View, on Monday morning December 19, said Captain Chandler. No arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information to call 08600 10111 or on 021 521 3300.
