Three foreign men between the ages of 40 and 60 are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court this week after being caught with abalone worth R 2.8 million, said provincial spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg. According to Sergeant Twigg, police received a tip-off about suspicious activity at a West Beach home and upon searching the property, on Thursday July 27, they found a drying facility with equipment and 7855 units of dried abalone. “A Land Rover used as a mode to transport the abalone, was also confiscated,” said Sergeant Twigg.
