SEA POINT PRIMARY SCHOOL
This year marks the 140th birthday of Sea Point Primary School.
Having started in 1884 as a boys’ school, we are proud to be one of the longest surviving local schools in Sea Point.
Many pupils have attended Sea Point Primary over the years and have received an excellent education which has served as a stepping stone into favourable high schools and further centres of learning.
Past pupils regularly come back to visit the school and their favourite teachers, which shows loyalty and an appreciation of their time spent at Sea Point Primary School.
Known fondly as “The School with a View”, we boast views of the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island, with a backdrop of Lion’s Head and Signal Hill.
The school offers classes from Grade R to Grade 7, and a variety of extra mural and cultural activities.
During our week of birthday celebrations, the pupils participated in a 140 challenge.
They surpassed themselves with ball throwing, hula hooping, skipping, star jumps, a penguin swim of 140 laps in the pool and many more. It was a lot of fun!
The generous parents donated cupcakes and juice, which was enjoyed by all.
We had two past pupil guest speakers, Mr Ivan Stewart (1953 – 1959) and Mr Saadiq Behardien (1996 – 2003) and they had a lot of fond memories to share.
We have put together a time capsule of current school memorabilia, and this is to be opened on the school’s 150th birthday in 10 years’ time.
This has been a week of fun and games and also happy celebrations. We look forward to many more successful years serving the Sea Point community and also the greater Cape Town area.
Happy Birthday Sea Point Primary School!
