Wynberg police step up for 16 Days campaign

Participants took part in a 5km walk to raise awareness and support the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign.

Wynberg police took a stand to support the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign.

The United Nations campaign takes place annually from November 25 (International Day of No Violence against Women) to December 10 (International Human Rights Day).

Officers, staff and others took part in a 5km walk on Wednesday November 27 at the Maynardville Park followed by a programme to spread awareness of the campaign at Simon Van Der Stel Primary where speakers advocated for the cause.

Sergeant Yusuf Williams, Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Kleinsmith and Warrant Officer Petrus von Mollendorf took part in the procession.

A defence technique class was also held to equip women and girls on how to protect themselves if they found themselves in danger and the rest of the afternoon was filled with dancing and singing.
