Animal rights activists from Beauty Without Cruelty staged a protest outside the McLaren Circus in Milnerton on Saturday March 29 and Sunday March 30, saying the wild animals are subjected to stressful and unnatural conditions.
Beauty Without Cruelty executive officer Chad Cupido said over 50 countries have banned animals in circuses.
"These animals are being transported around the country in very confined areas; they don't want to be there, we are to say no to wild animals, and any other animal used for human entertainment, ” said Mr Cupido.

He said people must realise that animals are sentient beings with feelings and instincts.
“So we must think beyond ourselves and also for other living beings. A lion is a symbol of strength, courage and pride, so we need to be the lions and protest for other animals who do not have voices,” said Mr Cupido.
Chief Kingsley Saralina said: “My paramount goal is to have freedom for all spheres of life. I am here so that I can be the guardian for the animals that cannot speak for themselves.”
