Tabletalk lensman Bheki Radebe captured kitesurfer Daniel Adams in action at Dolphin Beach in Bloubergstrand on Tuesday April 15. Mr Adams said there was concern among beach-goers of having their cars broken into while they were in the water. Captain Adriana Chandler Table View police station spokesperson said while they have received information of break-ins into vehicles for the past three months that occurred at Derde Steen and Blouberg Beach, very few had been reported by surfers. "The majority of the cases reported were where people went for a stroll on the beach and went to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. All vehicles had forced entries reported, where the lock had been tampered with or door handle broken. Items left in the vehicle that were stolen included cellphones of high value, tools, handbags, work equipment and wallets. The times when these crimes were committed varied from morning to evening." She said the community police forum, neighbourhood watch and SAPS have had numerous visibility patrols on the beaches throughout the year. “SAPS partners, such as the print media, NHW structures, and CPF have placed numerous warnings about theft out of motor vehicles on a regular basis. Never leave items of value in your vehicle when you park it. Always make sure that your doors are locked before you walk away and that your alarm is activated”, said Captain Chandler.
