The man accused of killing two people and injuring several others in a violent scissors stabbing spree in Milnerton, made a second court appearance at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday, May 12.

According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, Zuiab Williams, 48, is being charged with two counts of murder, and four counts of attempted murder.

His case has been postponed until Tuesday May 27.

Mr Ntabazalila said Mr Williams is currently being held at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital.

Milnerton police spokeswoman, Captain Nopaya Madyibi, said the suspect was first sent for psychiatric evaluation before he could appear in court, and for the past week was kept behind bars at Pollsmoor Prison before being transferred to Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital.

The attacks on Wednesday April 23 reportedly began at around 2.30pm outside the Cash Crusaders store at Centre Point Shopping Centre, where a woman was found with multiple stab wounds (“Milnerton reeling after fatal stabbing spree,” Tabletalk, Wednesday May 7).

Further investigations revealed that additional stabbings had occurred along Koeberg Road, leading towards Milnerton police, where one victim managed to flee to the police station to report the assault, prompting officers to respond swiftly and arrest the suspect in the vicinity.

According to Captain Madyibi, the suspect also attacked individuals in Bosmansdam and later assaulted a staff member at West Coast Fisheries and Gallo Portuguese after being asked to move from the entrance.
