The 2025 Rocking Future Career Expo visited Blouberg International School in Parklands on Thursday, June 5.
The tour aimed to inspire young people and school leavers to equip themselves with skills that will lead to employment.
Founder of the Rocking Future Career Expo, Kay Cheytanov, said the idea for the initiative came about when she was driving one day, heard an advert on the radio, and had a lightbulb moment.
“The puzzle pieces fell together, and I realised that if I offered schools a motivational show where I would sing and tell my story, and combine it with future study options, I would be able to keep singing and help learners discover different opportunities,” she said.
Her aim and dream is to motivate, educate, and inspire the youth.
The team had also launched another project called Success Starters, which is available to all Rocking Future Expo participating high schools.
The project calls for young entrepreneurs, talented performers, culinary creators, creative artists, sports champions, and tech innovators.
Schools can nominate one outstanding Grade 11 student at www.successstarters.co.za
The top 20 nominees from across South Africa will gain access to career opportunities, including bursaries from leading private tertiary institutions and other prizes.
“Our continued growth and strong relationships with our schools are the reason we keep going and keep innovating,” said Ms Cheytanov.
Blouberg International School’s counsellor, Mr Johan Meyer, said the event was inspiring and well received by the pupils.
“At Blouberg International, we pride ourselves on providing our students with the best possible education and development opportunities. This was an inspiring event, and the participation was enthusiastic. The Rocking Future Career Expo perfectly aligns with our mission and supplements our Unifrog career guidance offering, which we provide free of charge to our students,” he said.
