In a show of community spirit and environmental responsibility,a Table View-based landscaping company has partnered with SANCCOB to create a community garden at the new Pamela Isdell Seabird Nursery.
The initiative aims to not only beautify the facility but also support SANCCOB’s ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and conserve critically endangered African penguins and other seabird species.
According to the company, the partnership forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy, which places strong emphasis on giving back to the local community.
Their CEO, Julian Bartel, said their involvement in the project reflects their broader commitment to sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.
“Being rooted in Table View means a great deal to us,” he said.
“We’re proud to support SANCCOB, an organisation doing essential work for our local wildlife, and to contribute to making our community greener and more resilient.”
Melissa Knott, head of operations at SANCCOB, praised the company’s contribution, describing the transformation of the nursery’s surroundings as both practical and inspiring.
“Thanks to (the company), the gardens around our new seabird nursery have been given a vibrant new edge,” she said.
“Their expertise, hands-on approach and commitment have created a beautiful space for our visitors and our team, who work daily to combat the decline of the African penguin population,” said Ms Knott.
The collaboration is seen as a step forward in fostering a shared sense of environmental responsibility, with both organisations highlighting the importance of working together to support conservation and community upliftment, she said.
