The Rotary Club of Blouberg welcomed its new president, Jackie Claydon, during an induction breakfast held at the Blowfish Restaurant recently.
Each year, Rotary clubs around the world appoint a new president to serve a one-year term from July 1 to June 30.
Outgoing president Lynne Wade reflected on the club’s achievements over the past year and thanked the 35-member team for their hard work and commitment to community service.
Blouberg Rotary chairperson Helène Visser said during the ceremony, Ms Wade presented the Rainmaker of the Year Award to Jackie and Graham Claydon in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

She said that Graham Claydon was further honoured with a Paul Harris Fellow Award—the highest individual recognition in Rotary—for his dedication and consistent efforts to support the community.
“Jackie Claydon, a Table View resident of 40 years, was then formally inducted as the Blouberg Rotary Club President for the 2025/26 term. She introduced her newly appointed board, who will assist in continuing and launching community-driven projects throughout the year,” she said.
The Rotary Club of Blouberg is a non-profit organisation that supports local upliftment initiatives. One of its flagship projects is the upgrade of Vaatjie Mor Primary School on the old Mamre Road, made possible through funding partnerships with several overseas Rotary Clubs.
The club also sent five young leaders to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp in Franschhoek, thanks to the support of four generous donors. In addition, a Rotary District Grant enabled the club to supply stationery to learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
