Melkbosstrand Watch supports SAPS in fighting hunger

Staff Reporter|Published

The Melkbosstrand Neighbourhood Watch has stepped up to support a SAPS initiative aimed at helping those in need this winter. After learning that SAPS was collecting empty coffee jars to fill with soup mix, the Watch decided to go a step further. Members purchased a 25kg bag of soup ingredients and handed it over to SAPS for the project. At the handover, Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Rhine Barnes said hunger can often lead to crime, and that supporting this initiative may help prevent it. Pictured are Captain Van der Heever (Acting Station Commander), Wayde Greig, Sean MacKay (holding the 25kg bag), George Bergh, Smokie La Grange, Cheryl Childs, and Sergeant Botha, who is overseeing the project on behalf of SAPS Melkbosstrand.
