Two suspects are due to appear at the Atlantis Magistrate's Court for the murder of 41-year-old Malcolm Pather of Richwood.

Two suspects charged in connection with the murder of Richwood resident Malcolm Pather appeared in the Atlantis Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, July 30.
According to provincial police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk, Mr Pather was reported missing by his brother-in-law on Tuesday, July 15, after he was last seen leaving his home in his blue BMW 1 Series on Sunday, July 13.
On Monday, July 14, Melkbosstrand police were alerted to a burning body found on the back of a torched vehicle on Old Mamre Darling Road, Melkbosstrand.
“The body of a male was discovered, burnt beyond recognition. All leads were followed up on, evidence collected at the scene, and a possible person of interest was identified,” said Captain van Wyk.
Further investigations on Friday, July 25, led police to an address where a 39-year-old woman was taken in for questioning.
“After her arrest, she attempted suicide and was admitted to hospital, where she remained in custody,” he said.
On Monday, July 28, a 39-year-old man was arrested at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court by members of the Melkbosstrand Crime Investigation Division (CID), said Captain Van Wyk.
“Both suspects have been charged and will appear in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, July 30, on charges of murder,” he said, adding that further charges may be added following consultation with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
