A 30-year-old man is expected to make his second appearance at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, September 3, on a charge of murder, according to Table View police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler.

The man was arrested after a car guard was fatally stabbed near Marine Circle in Bloubergstrand on Sunday, August 31, she said.

Captain Chandler said police officers were on patrol when they noticed a crowd gathering in the area and found an unidentified man lying unresponsive with a stab wound beneath his arm.

“Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.”

She said detectives obtained video footage from a nearby property, which led to the identification of two suspects.

“A man, 30, and a woman, 24, were traced and arrested shortly before midday on Sunday. Both were initially charged with murder, but the woman was released before court proceedings. The man remains in custody and is due to apply for bail today,” she said.

Taking to social media, the Beach Boulevard Business Forum (BBBF) urged residents not to speculate.

"We respectfully ask the community to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unverified content on social media. Our priority is the safety and well-being of residents, visitor,s and staff along the Boulevard," said the organisation in a statement.

This is a developing story.
