A man is being held at Table View police station after Metro Police officers arrested him for drug dealing on Wednesday afternoon, December 3.

Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler said the arrest came after a covert operation led to the discovery of a stash of drugs and a large sum of cash.

“While patrolling the area, officers noticed a vehicle behaving suspiciously. They kept it under surveillance and called in support from colleagues in two unmarked Metro Police vehicles. Their suspicions were confirmed when the driver was allegedly seen engaging in what appeared to be an illegal transaction.”

She said the officers moved in, searching the vehicle and the suspect.

They uncovered a substantial amount of cash and an assortment of illegal substances, including crystal methamphetamine (tik), cannabis (dagga), and mandrax, she said.

The man is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Friday, December 5.
