Residents can visit the clinic between 7am and 3pm to get screened and learn more about prevention and early detection. PinkDrive is a South African non-profit organisation that focuses on breast cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection.

Their main goal is to reduce the impact of breast cancer by providing access to free or low-cost mammograms, especially for women who might not be able to afford them, and by educating communities about the disease.

PinkDrive spokesperson Athandiwe Tyuluba said the outreach will offer clinical breast examinations, pap smears, and Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings for prostate cancer, all conducted by qualified healthcare professionals.

Participants will also receive guidance on self-examination techniques, helping to empower the community with knowledge about early detection.

Screening will be primarily on a walk-in basis, ensuring accessibility for all community members.

PinkDrive expects to screen between 80 and 150 residents, depending on turnout, she said.

The organisation stresses the importance of early detection, noting that attending screenings - even if asymptomatic - can save lives.

Ms Tyuluba said residents are also encouraged to stay informed about upcoming outreach initiatives across the Western Cape via PinkDrive’s website at www.pinkdrive.org or their social media platforms.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to bring essential healthcare services directly to communities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to prioritise their health.
