Zingara performer Kevin Ellis and managing partner Tracy Maltman won the Best Dressed Couple award for the second time at the Met, which took place at Kenilworth Racecourse over the weekend.
Mr Ellis, who is originally from Durban, has won multiple times across various categories at the annual event, both with Ms Maltman and with his partner, Gareth Greaves.
This year’s theme, ‘A Symphony of Style’, inspired a theatrical fashion look conceived by Mr Ellis.
The outfit was created by Mr Greaves, a stage manager on The Royal Countess Zingara, currently showing at Century City and set to move to Johannesburg in June.
Mr Ellis, who is also part of Zingara’s costuming team, said he helped conjure a striking ensemble featuring feathered headdresses, hand-painted fabrics and eclectic details, including musical notes stitched into the trouser legs.
“We are thrilled to have won again,” said Mr Ellis. “The Met is a highlight on our calendar each year, and it’s always exciting to take on the creative challenge of finding a unique way to stand out from the crowd.”
The Royal Countess Zingara will be at the mirror tent at Century City until Sunday May 17. Book through boxoffice@zingara.co.za and 021 891 0448.
