Residents of Blouberg Sands have been without electricity since Monday, February 9, shortly before 11am, leaving households struggling to manage daily routines as the outage continues.

One resident, Claire Feinberg, said the power cut has caused significant disruption to her family’s life. “My two children could not go to school, and even preparing breakfast for them was frustrating. We have heard nothing from Eskom. We are just waiting here and praying for a miracle,” she said.

Ward councillor Jonathan Mills said the outage was caused by a faulty mini substation in West Street, which requires replacement.

He added that plans were in place to provide an alternative electricity supply to affected residents, but it was unclear whether all households would be reconnected on the same day.

“I am keeping tabs on the situation. We have limited information, and our only source at the moment is the team on site in the Eskom bakkie,” Mr Mills said.

He said that local street committees and neighbourhood watch groups have been actively sharing updates, highlighting the importance of community cooperation during the outage.

Eskom did not respond to questions before the publication of this article.

This is a developing story.
