Bothasig Mall, on the corner of Vryburger Avenue and Tafelberg Street, is undergoing a makeover, which will see a substantial investment from the property owners in a phased refurbishment project set to finish by November next year.
Built in the 1980s, the mall, on a 40 000m² site, was the first shopping centre in Bothasig.
The mall’s anchor tenant, Shoprite, is being replaced by a Checkers store, which is due to open today, Wednesday November 24.
When the renovations are complete, the mall will have two entrances instead of one and 565 parking bays instead of 480, say the new owners, FCG Properties.
There are close to 40 tenants at the mall, and they will continue to trade during the construction phase.
