Three people in two separate incidents were arrested for illegally dealing in cigarettes during the national lockdown.
According to Bothasig SAPS spokesman, Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert, the three violated the Disaster Management Act.
Warrant Officer Mostert said that their members conducted a few undercover operations last week after receiving several complaints from residents about people illegally selling cigarettes.
A shop owner and his assistant were arrested on Wednesday July 29 and cigarettes worth R2 100 were confiscated.
The previous day, in another undercover operation, a shop employee was arrested and R22 000 worth of cigarettes and other tobacco products were found and confiscated.
