It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas in Donkin Way, Edgemead, where residents Lauren and Dylan Douglas have decorated their home.
Lauren is the daughter of Rugby resident Martin Beyers, who for the last eight years, lit up his house in Nahum Street with lights. She has now taken over the tradition from her father – who had taken the tradition over from his father, Snowden “Snowy” Beyers who passed away nine years ago.
Lauren has incorporated lights passed down from her grandfather, some of them being 28 years old, into the decorations at her house.
There is a variety of reindeer, Christmas trees, Santas in the chimney and many more, she said.
There are just over 80 lights at the house, which had taken nearly two months to set up, said Lauren.
“We do it for the fun of it and enjoy what we do when we see the joy on the little kids faces,” she said.
She invited neighbours to pop in at any time in the evening, where kids will be given a sweet treat and can drop their wish-list for Santa in the letterbox.
