Alan Winde, MEC of economic opportunities, recently visited Bayside Mall as part of the Western Cape government’s month-long energy efficiency awareness campaign. As part of its Going Green project, Bayside Mall harvests rainwater and generates solar electricity. Through this system, they are reducing the electricity they need from Eskom by about 2 200 units each day and save, on average, 50 000 litres of potable water a day. Back, from left, are Bruce Raw, from Green Cape; Pierre van Ryneveld, from Bayside Mall; and Chris Wise, from JG Africa. In front are Hildegard Fast, from the provincial government; Mr Winde; Sally-Anne Kasner, from JG Africa; and Aadilah Ryklief, from Bayside Mall.
