Staff at Milnerton fire station and seven others held guard-of-honour ceremonies on Friday morning for divisional commander Makosandile Mbhokhwe, 48, who died of Covid-19 on Father’s Day, Sunday June 21. He was based at Fire and Rescue Service Training Academy in Epping and was awarded the Officer of the Year Award at the 2018 Safety and Security Annual Awards. A memorial service was held later at the Goodwood Civic Centre. He is survived by his wife and three children.
