Sisterhood events will be held at Hillsong churches all over Cape Town later this month.
The events are for women of all ages, although men are also welcome to take part as helpers, and are an opportunity for them to support each other to build their communities, hear from interesting speakers and learn new skills.
Bonita Eder, who is part of the church and the Sisterhood team, said they wanted girls and women from all backgrounds to know they were loved and valued.
There are three Sisterhood events a year , with one big annual event, the Colour Conference, at GrandWest.
Ms Eder said the Sisterhood worked with A-21, a non-profit combating human trafficking.
“Human trafficking has become a very huge problem in our country and one might think that it doesn’t happen here and that it only happens overseas but we couldn’t be more wrong,” she said.
According to Ms Eder, Sisterhood is more than just a bunch of women who get together, drink tea, pamper themselves and gossip; it is about getting things done and helping whenever and wherever they can.
“We’d like to get a lot more people involved with Sisterhood, so that we can do all we can to try and change someone else’s situation. It doesn’t matter where you are from or how old you are. Every girl is part of the Sisterhood.”
The events will be held at Hillsong churches across the city on Saturday August 25. There will be a service at 8.30am and another one at 11am.
