Table View’s Natasha King has made it to the top 25 in the Mrs South Africa pageant.
The new Mrs South Africa will be crowned at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on Friday November 8.
Ms King said the pageant had forced her out of her comfort zone.
“It truly is a transformational journey that makes you the best version of yourself, and helps you to live your best life.”
She said she would shed light on anorexia and addictions should she win, as she was living proof that recovery from anorexia was possible.
“No matter what you are struggling with, you are not alone; there is always help for those in need. I want to be a voice for the voiceless and hopefully encourage others to not be too ashamed or scared to speak up about their struggles, and get the help or support they need. I want to help people understand why it’s essential to break the stigma around mental health issues, that you are not defined by your past or your present circumstances, and no one determines your worth, but you.”
Ms King said it was wonderful to live in an era when women “finally have rights, opportunities and are being validated for all they do and stand for”.
“I believe wholeheartedly in women upliftment and empowerment.
“I think it’s been shown and proven that when women celebrate, support and empower each other, they achieve incredible things,” said Ms King.
