Table View police have traced a murder suspect to the Eastern Cape.
The 24-year-old man was arrested in Tsolo on Friday December 9, according to Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler.
The man, who is accused of killing another man in his 20s in Site 5 informal settlement near Dunoon earlier this month, was tracked down by the investigating officer, Sergeant Xolile Magingxi, who received a tip-off about the suspect’s whereabouts.
On Saturday December 10, police arrested a 32-year-old man in Mthatha in connection with an aggravated robbery committed in the Table View area in March 2017, and, on Sunday December 11, a 42-year-old woman from Site 5 informal settlement was arrested on a charge of intent to cause grievous bodily harm following a domestic dispute.
Captain Chandler said there were various other weekend arrests for rape, possession of a dangerous weapon, domestic-violence-related assaults, driving under the influence of alcohol, shoplifting and the use of a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner.
Captain Chandler said robberies tended to increase during the festive season and she urged the public to take care.
Table View Community Police Forum chairman David Harris praised the police for making the arrests.
