I think the City really needs to get its priorities straight and stop wasting taxpayers money (“Wooden bridge upgrades imminent,” Tabletalk, April 18).
The R20 million would be far better put to use upgrading the Table View beachfront, which is a huge tourist destination for kite surfers, among others.
That whole beachfront is in a dismal, embarrassing state, and R20 million would go a long way in improving it.
That second bridge is totally unnecessary from a practical point as there already is a functioning bridge and would really add little benefit to the general public and tourism.
I’m sure if the City has to take a vote between money spent on the bridge vs Table View beachfront, the beachfront would win hands down.
