I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the repeated lack of responsiveness from City Law Enforcement when it comes to issues reported within our community.
On Friday October 4, at about 5.05pm, I reported public drinking at the corner of Vasco and Kubrick Road (Reference Number: 100221-5374). Law Enforcement closed the case within less than half an hour, saying no one was present. However, I had been monitoring the situation all day and even took photographs showing that individuals had been there continuously, making it hard to understand how this could have been missed.
Due to their inaction, I re-logged the case under Reference Number: 100221-5264, which was closed again on Monday October 7, at 2am. Despite these reports, there has been no intervention or compliance from Law Enforcement.
Further to this, on Saturday October 5, one of our board members reported the same issue again under ref: 1002215091, just after 1pm, yet the problem persists.
It is becoming evident that Law Enforcement is either ignoring these reports or failing to take effective action. When I enquired about an illegal building issue in the past, I was told they had contacted the complainant and explained the by-laws, which was untrue as I was the complainant, and no such contact was made.
The community deserves a Law Enforcement team that is responsive, effective, and transparent in its operations.
The City’s Law Enforcement spokesman Wayne Dyason responds: “We are requesting a report from the officers who attended to the complaint. However, Law Enforcement will monitor the area as a hotspot and also request officers who are on night shift to monitor the area.”
