Abdurrahman Gafoor, Melkbosstrand
My name is Abdurrahman Gafoor, and I am a 68-year-old elderly gentleman residing in Melkbosstrand. On Thursday November 21 my residence was burgled, and my home and my work laptops were stolen, among other things.
I was devastated by the incident and I contacted the local police station, and shortly after, at around noon, a young policeman, Constable Francke, came and assisted me with a case docket.
After we finished, I asked the policeman who I can contact to fix the window. His reply shocked me: he offered to do it himself saying that since I was elderly, someone might charge me an excessive amount to fix the window.
He left and told me he would return as soon as he had a chance. This saved me a lot of effort as my health is not on par at this age, so much so that I have difficulty walking.
On the same day, just a little after 6pm, Constable Francke came to my residence and did not waste any time to start putting the window and frame back together where the burglars entered. He told me that he had just finished at work and had come directly to my home to assist me as he did not have enough time during the day when he was at work.
At about 6.45pm, the window was fixed and in place. I wanted to reward the young man for his good deed, but he declined and told me that he is doing it out of his heart.
I just want to applaud Constable Francke for the amazing service I received from him and the police station as such. I want to highlight that because of his good deed, myself and my daughter felt safe throughout the evening and could sleep peacefully.
