Something that needs to be addressed right away is the Royal AM Football Club situation, a club bought by a clueless owner, wanting to keep her brat of a son happy.
If you wondering whether I have some sour grapes, not really and allow GoalMOUTH to show you why.
From SARS demands to unpaid taxes, to FIFA transfer bans, to unpaid wages leading to lawsuits — this club is in shambles and has been so for a while.
Royal AM now faces liquidation after SARS tries to recover a whopping R40 million in debt from the lavish Shauwn Mkhize.
Last year, SARS along with the Hawks, raided several of Mkhize’s luxurious properties. According to reports, luxury vehicles were seized, including a Mercedes G-Wagon, a Ferrari, a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost and a Maserati.
One of those vehicles can cover a few players salaries, just as a side note. Carrying on.
Mkhize is the club’s President and has taken the football world by storm, with her lavish lifestyle and social media frenzy created around her wealth — which she flaunts proudly.
The club even owes former Kaizer Chiefs high flyer, Samir Nurkovic a whopping R15 million in debt and after having failed to settle this debt — FIFA forced a transfer ban onto the club.
A player Shauwn Mkhize made a huge fuss about it, especially after fighting off some big team to lure the striker from Chiefs.
Here comes the crazy part, with players running short and no transfers, the club turned to the self appointed son of Mkhize, Andile Mpisane, who made himself team captain and added himself to nearly every starting line-up.
This is not made up, the owners son took over as coach, captain and player, leading the line-up for Royal AM in the Premier Soccer League.
Did it work out?
It’s a different story if Andile had skill and is able to contribute to the team, but quite frankly, he became the laughing stock of the PSL.
I am surprised he still has not ordered himself a larger kit by now, because seriously, being the captain of a football team, but matching the size of Os Du Randt?
With poor ball skills, sometimes coming across as painful to watch, he hardly ever contributes positively to the team. In fact, the only thing he does is show that this is his club and you will play the way I like.
A club already in turmoil, sent further down the rafters by allowing Andile to try and rescue things.
Finally, the truths are surfacing and his mother’s off the field antics have started catching up with her and Royal AM.
But how long has this been coming on for? How many people have tried to blow the whistle on this?
The Chilli Boys already revealed in statement that the PSL had provided no reason for the postponement against Royal AM — so already it’s having an impact on the league.
Royal AM players haven’t turned up for training because of unpaid salaries and it just seems like it’s one way down for the club — who I personally believe were led on by an adventurous owner who only wanted to give her son a club to play with.
Normal people buy the kids toys, cars, clothing — Andile wanted a club and that is what Mkhize got him.
Hats off and mother of the year award to Shauwn, but once it’s bought, it actually needs to be run.
At the same time, you played with many others livelihoods too and it looks very likely it will cost them much more.
Hopefully, the PSL gives this club the boot and opens the door to other clubs fighting to be there. Make them an example.
