Popstar Jimmy Nevis will be among dozens of runners who are preparing for the gruelling Two Ocean’s marathon next month to help raise funds for the Centre for Early Childhood Development (CECD).
The CECD, which has its head office in Claremont has been around for over 30 years, advocates for better Early Childhood Development (ECD) policies, trains teachers and upgrades centres throughout the country.
Mr Nevis is a longtime ambassador for the organisation and he will be running the Two Ocean’s half marathon 21.1km distance in support of the CECD.
Mr Nevis, from Century City, says it is an “honour” to run the half marathon in support of the organisation.
“I believe that this is for an incredible cause and I believe that children are our future. I have been working with this organisation for many years and it's an honour to support them."
Natalie Maimane from Claremont will also be running the half marathon in support of the CECD.
“The reason I chose to support this organisation is because I have a heart for early childhood development. It’s important in our country that children receive quality education. It can change generations if our children have access to quality education,” she said.
Operations manager at CECD, Bridget Kahts, said they are excited that they have charity runners who will take part in this gruelling race to raise awareness of the work we do.
“We encourage eveyone to donate towards our fundraising campaign on the Givengain platform,”she says.
