The Ultimate X BMX and skateboarding festival was held at Battery Park, at the Waterfront, with Cape Town skaters Devandre Gallant and Jean-marc Johannes among the top performers.

In the Volcom Men's Skate competition, Devandre Gallant took the win from the experienced Khule Ngubane. The Cape Town skater put on a world-class performance against his Durban counterpart to claim victory.
