Athlone A’s have a double header this weekend against Maitland away and VOB Macaw at home in the Cape Town Baseball Federation Major League.
Athlone Athletics Baseball Club will look to bounce back to winning ways after their 7-3 defeat to Bellville Tygers Baseball Club in a Cape Town Baseball Federation’s Major League clash at the Vangate Sports Grounds on Saturday November 2.
The Athlone A’s had a strong start to the season, securing victories in three of their first matches, but they lost their last two games over the weekend.
Coach Leon Dodgen noted that his team faced significant pressure from Bellville at a critical point while trying to turn the game around.
“For me, the key moments were the hit that scored two runs for Bellville to tie the game and then the pass ball that allowed them to take the lead,” said Dodgen.
Going back to the drawing board, Coach Dodgen stated that his team will be getting ready for a double-header: facing Maitland Giants away on Saturday and VOB Macaw in Athlone on Sunday.
“We always work hard at training and prepare well for each and every game no matter who we play. We had a good start to the season winning our first three games. We have lost our last two games. I'm sure the team will bounce back strong and get back to winning ways,” said Dodgen.
