Members of Hangberg’s eSKAPE PooL Club are trying to raise funds to take part in the upcoming nationaL pool championship, at the Sun Coast Hotel, in Durban, from Friday March 7 to Sunday March 23.
Established in 2023 with a single playing board, the club has since grown into a fully fledged registered club with membership of close to 50 members including women and junior members and is affiliated to Blackball South Africa (BSA) and the South African Pool Union (SAPU).
The club uses the sport as a vehicle to uplift the youth and create opportunities for youngsters like Devonte Cloete, 15, who was selected to take part in the nationals in the under-23 division.
Six club members were selected as part of an elite group to take part in the championships but need to raise about R12 000 each to cover travelling expenses and accommodation for the duration of the competition.
If you can assist in any way, call club chairman Lionel Louw on 063 130 2719 or secretary James Wichman on 082 330 3301 or email james.wichman@oceana.co.za
