Two of Cape Town’s brightest future stars in women’s boxing, Simamkele Tutsheni and Caleigh Swart, are on course for a head-to-head showdown that has all the makings of a modern classic.
Undefeated in their careers, both fighters are set to grace the main card on Women’s Day, August 9 , ,when they go toe-to-toe for the IBO All Africa title in the Super Bantamweight division.
The stage is set at Emperor’s Palace in Jozi which may leave their hometown supporters longing but at least the TV broadcast promises to bridge the gap.

Simamkele Tutsheni, the Western Cape Junior Featherweight champion, has built an impressive record of 7–0, with 3 wins by stoppage.
Her last ring outing came ten months ago against Pamela Matunga. The 21-year-old from Langa has had a steady rise in the boxing ring since stepping into the pro ranks in 2021.
Caleigh Swart, meanwhile, is a powerhouse in her own right. Also undefeated at 5–0, with a single knockout among those victories, Swart delivered her latest victory just three months ago over Nolwazi Mabaso, her fifth pro win.
Training out of MadFit Boxing under the stewardship of coach Matt Leisching, Swart brings technical polish and youth-fuelled tenacity to the ring, a combination that has quickly set the boxing community abuzz.
The bout represents the biggest challenge yet for both athletes: their toughest test, and potentially a career-defining moment.
At stake is more than just the IBO All Africa strap in Super Bantamweight; it’s momentum, it’s recognition, it’s the sort of high-profile occasion that can catapult a boxer from promising prospect to national mainstay.
Ironically, these two Capetonian superstars won’t meet on Cape Town soil. Fans of both camps will no doubt feel robbed by their absence from the stands, but in today’s digital age, packed viewership and broadcast can often mean more than hometown roars.
