Phenomenal Promotions hosted the Bragging Rights boxing tournament in front of a packed crowd at the Sunningdale sports complex earlier this month.
The event on May 6 featured 14 bouts with the main event being between crowd favourite Farhaaz Sayed Ismail and Envir Sait.
Sayed, who hails from Ottery and is now based in Australia, managed to secure victory over Sait, from Mitchell’s Plain, through points in a thrilling and hard-fought bout. The two fighters showed great skill and determination, with the crowd on the edge of their seats until the final bell. Sayed’s experience and technique proved to be the deciding factor.
Another main bout at the event was between Saarah Karriem, from Retreat, and Anzel Kellerman, from Kuils River. Karriem who is considered one of the most promising young talents in Western Cape boxing, managed to secure the amateur exhibition belt in a closely contested bout. Both fighters showed great skill and determination, with Karriem ultimately emerging victorious and further cementing her status as a rising star in the sport.
Organisers of the event also announced that they would be making a donation to Islamic Relief, a humanitarian organisation that works to alleviate poverty and suffering in over 40 countries around the world. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the event would be going towards the people of Türkiye and Syria, who have suffered greatly due to a recent earthquake in the region.
